The Sociology of Work Study Centre (CESOT) was established in 1994 and is located within the Institute of Administration Research at The Faculty of Economics, University of Buenos Aires.
The Centre's staff is committed to an interdisciplinary approach to the phenomena of work including the social and economic environments covering teaching, research and service interests.
Centre members have professional training in Sociology, Administration and accounting and have developed skills and interests in specific specialty areas, such as sociology of organisations and social research methodology.
There are also a number of advanced students assigned to research assistantships and graduate professionals recipient of scholarships who carry out research activities developing the required instructional skills and experiences needed to become effective investigators.

More specifically The Sociology of Work Study Centre aims at:

- Undertaking a broad range of theoretical and empirical research projects with regard to organisations belonging to the Social Economy or Third Sector and more specifically to co-operatives.
- Disseminating research findings widely across both the academic community and Social Economy organisations.
- Developing links with, and working alongside, the full range of academic agencies and social economy organisations at regional, national and international levels.
- Encouraging transfer of research findings and teaching results throughout the academic world and the community.
- Carrying out consulting work in order to meet specific demands.

The Sociology of Work Study Centre is able to accomplish these objectives within the framework of a democratic, critical, innovative and creative university system committed to society as a whole.
