The Development, Employment and Population Research Center -CEPED- was founded in the summer of 1993, by a group of social researchers, as a place for sharing their work and knowledge.

As other research centers, CEPED is part of the Economic Research Institute of the University of Buenos Aires, settled at the Faculty of Economics.

In 1997, CEPED was admitted as a member of the Latin American Social Sciences Council (CLACSO).

The Center's activities comprise social and economic research, development of professional skills of professors and researchers, and advising and consulting for public and private institutions.

CEPED is mainly involved with the following subjects: labor market, population dynamics, the Argentine and Latin American development processes, and urban and regional topics, as well as public policies related to this issues.

The CEPED members are researchers and professors of the University of Buenos Aires, some of them with a wide and well-recognized academic experience. A large group of students and recently graduated professionals are in permanent researching and teaching activities at the Center.

The Center shares its knowledge by publishing research findings, organizing academic events and by the member's participation in other institution's seminars and activities.
For its Consulting Activities, the CEPED offers a group of professionals with a vast experience and currently working as consultants for the public and private sectors.
